【メープル物語】若木の葉が食べられたのでシカ対策 net against deer

初夏に植えたイタヤカエデの若木。正直、夏は食べるものがたくさんあるから、若木がシカに食べられてしまうのは食べ物が少なくなってくる晩夏だろうと勝手に想像していたのですが、甘かったです…。

植えてから一週間ほどで実は1，2枚ほどの葉を残してふさふさ生えていた葉は食べられてしまいました。これはもうダメだと思い、その無残な姿を写真に収めることもせず、放置してしまいました。

すると、それから2週間ほどたったある時、植えた若木をふと見てみると、なんと葉がまた生えてきたではありませんか！若木の生命力はすごいですね。この若木たちがこのまま来年もまた、葉を生やしてくれるかどうかはまだ分かりませんが、まだ生きていたので、これ以上食べられてしまってはかなわないと、シカ対策のためにネットを巻くことにしました。

1本だけ背が高いので、ネットから少しはみ出してしまいました。でも、周囲はシカが 依然としてウロウロしていますが、 ネットを設置してからは食べられている気配がありません。

この後、秋が来て冬が来ますが、こんなので大丈夫なのか分かりませんが、また様子を見てみたいと思います。

I planted young maple tree in the begging of this Summer. I honestly imagined even if young tree is eaten by deer, it may happen in the end of summer because there are a lot of food in summer, but it was silly of me to think so…

Almost all leaves were eaten except few leaves one week just after planted. I thought young trees had already been dead and left as it was without any photo…

Two more weeks passed and I one day realized that young trees again sprouted leaves! Vital power of young tree is very strong. As I didn’t want young trees eaten again, I then decided to set a net around them.

One young tree is little higher than net. Although deer walked around as usual, tree leaves have not been eaten until now. I don’t know if setting net is a good idea or not, but I will check how it will go.
